This is a tiny post – because it concerns something which I thought was huge and upsetting, and instead became something humorous and tiny in the grand scheme of married life.

I threw a fit the other night about the usual suspects – housekeeping, order and cleanliness. Tears, drama, and an hour of thumping about with a broom and washcloth made me feel worse.

Luckily, my dear husband said little at the time, (mainly because he has a stuffy, coughy cold). The next day, when we talked about the emotional mess, he simply said, “I’ll always hold in my heart how messy your bathroom was when we were dating.”

I couldn’t help but laugh – and love him for his levity.

As a dear friend of mine said recently, “our marriage got a lot better when he figured out the most helpful way to tease me.”
